“My boyfriend Harley and I adored Hakubaa! Arriving right after a fresh dusting of snow, it looked like a winter wonderland!It was my second time snowboarding. The fresh powder was a magical experience, and it was actually fun to fall over (which happened a lot).

“We stayed at Phoenix Chalets which was incredible. The location was very central and close to the town and snowfields. The staff were just fantastic, we felt so well taken care of in every aspect from dinner reservations, onsen reservations, and recommendations on snow rentals and which lift passes to buy. They had everything covered!

“Mimi’s Restaurant & Bar at the hotel itself was one of our favourite places to eat. The Italian cuisine was delicious and they had a great wine list. We also loved The Rabbit Hole for a vegetarian burger and other cheat day meals. I even had fun going to the local supermarket because we got to cook in our chalet — guessing what everything was and exploring new things to cook.”
