Sydney to Sapporo: Qantas Takes Off to Japan’s Powder Paradise

Fly direct from Sydney to Sapporo on Qantas and discover Hokkaido’s world-class skiing, luxury stays, and delicious eats.

Calling all powder hounds and ramen enthusiasts Down Under! Your dream trip just got an upgrade. Qantas is launching direct flights from Sydney to Sapporo in December 2025, just in time to hit Hokkaido’s famous slopes. Running until March 2026, these seasonal flights will have you trading Bondi’s golden shores for the pristine slopes of Niseko, Furano, Rusutsu and beyond in just over ten hours.

Flight QF107 to Sapporo will run three times a week, departing from Australia in the morning and landing in Japan’s winter wonderland by early evening. The airline is also pulling out all the stops for its 100th destination with Airbus A330, which means you have flatbed business class suites and economy recliners to stretch out in style before touching down at New Chitose Airport.

Beyond Sapporo: Ski Resorts to Explore

Niseko

While Sapporo is the primary gateway to Hokkaido, more adventure lies just a short car or bus ride away. For sociable skiers, Niseko is the ultimate playground with its epic champagne powder and buzzing après-ski scene (there are plenty of stellar restaurants and cool pop-ups that just multiply year on year)

Furano

On the other hand, Furano charms with quieter slopes, rolling flower fields in spring and summer, and an authentic Japanese town vibe. And for those looking for family-friendly fun, Rusutsu serves up 42km of runs, Hokkaido’s largest amusement park, and breathtaking views of Mount Yotei.

Rusutsu

No matter which destination you choose, The Luxe Nomad’s portfolio of luxury stays ensures you’ll unwind in style. Think: modern ski-in ski-out condo hotels, stylish chalets with private saunas and onsen, as well as spacious penthouses with amazing alpine views.

What are you waiting for? Pack your skis (or snowboards) and bring your appetite with you — Qantas is making the journey smoother than freshly fallen snow.
