Your guide to the Ubud Food Festival

We don’t need many excuses to travel. Quite often it comes down to a desire to not be at home. This weekend, however, we have an excellent reason to catch a last-minute flight to Bali (Mt Agung or no Mt Agung). The Ubud Food Festival is back! With tons to explore as the finest of Indonesia’s food scene gathers in Ubud from 26-28 April, we’ve rounded up some of the sessions to get excited about.

Special Event: Best of Bali 2.0

What: Give us all the food! In this special event, chefs from some of Bali’s best restaurants – Bikini, Cuca, Mason and Mozaic – will work together to put the finest Balinese creations on your plate. We’re all too excited for the canapes and 5-course chefs’ menu!

Where: Mozaic. Jl. Raya Sanggingan, Ubud

When: 26 Apr 2019 | 19:00 – 23:00

Tickets: IDR 1,050,000 and includes canapés and 5-course chefs’ menu with optional drinks package available.

Masterclass: French-Balinese Fusion

What: Learn to create French-Balinese cuisine from Chris Salans, the man who pioneered it! Chris was a chef at three Michelin-star restaurants in France and the US before creating the French-Balinese style at Ubud’s Mozaic Restaurant Gastronomique. During the session, you’ll get to create a sesame crusted tuna with sambal kecicang, a spicy condiment containing torch ginger.

Special Event: Molecular Magic

What: Six-course meal? Yes, please! Chef de Cuisine at 1945, the contemporary Indonesian restaurant, Adhitia Julisinadi will be presenting his molecular gastronomy for your tasting pleasure. We’re pretty excited about the chance to try the fruits of his innovative cooking methods.

Masterclass: Specialty Coffee Appreciation & Cupping

What: Presented by Harris Hartanto Tan, the co-founder of Coffeenatics, we’re super excited about finally learning how to brew that perfect cup of coffee. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Melbourne coffee fanatic or just someone who appreciates waking up with a cup that tastes great, there is definitely something to be learned about Indonesian coffee.
