Why You’ll Want to Fly First Class Through Abu Dhabi

Why fly through Abu Dhabi? Because if you’re going to travel First Class, you might as well do it well.

And with Etihad Airways’ newly opened flagship First Class Lounge & Spa at Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Terminal 3, you know you’re going to be travelling, and transiting, in style.

Taking its inspiration from prestigious hotels, private members’ clubs and upscale dining establishments, this lounge is an ultra-exclusive environment that features 16 zones so guests can relax, re-energise and be entertained in total luxury. We’re talking a 1,700 m2 space that includes an  à la carte restaurant, showcase bar, fitness room, cigar lounge, Six Senses Spa, Style & Shave hairdresser, nail bar, TV room, secluded relaxation room, prayer room and children’s playroom, with highly personalised (and rigorously-trained) service.

Relax and Recline

So what do you have to do in order to gain exclusive access to this coveted lounge? You’d have to be either a member of The Residence, Etihad First Class, Etihad Guest Exclusive, Etihad Guest Platinum members (plus one guest), Etihad Airways Partner (EAP) airline First Class guests, EAP ‘Invitation only’ members (plus two guests) or EAP equivalent Platinum members (plus one guest).

But we’d go with The Residence, because not only do you not mingle with the plebeians thanks to your own private space away from the main lounge area, you also get a dedicated Savoy-trained Butler, custom-made Poltrona Frau Italian leather armchairs and sofas, you own shower room stocked with a range of Acqua di Parma products, a prayer room, and private dining, plus two complimentary treatments at the Six Senses Spa!

Of course other guests receive top-of-the-line experiences as well, which include an unique five-course Emirati tasting menu, developed by chefs from Mezlai at the prestigious Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, as well as expert service by the General Manager, Concierge, Maître d’Hotel, Savoy-trained Butlers, chefs and mixologists. Our fave(s)? The sculptural showcase bar with a bespoke cocktail menu (time for the botanical arty gin cocktail with candy floss we’ve been craving), nail art services at the nail bar, and the very cool cigar lounge.

Splurge out.

Alia Soraya

When she's not chasing after her toddler son, travelling the world, riding horses, killing herself with F45, or eating everything in sight, Alia is a grammar nazi extraordinaire. She also has an unhealthy obsession with Tom Hiddleston, Game of Thrones, Outlander and French cooking. Did we mention chocolate too?
