Good news, powderhounds — yes you can enjoy Japow even in the spring.
Quieter slopes, fewer crowds, and champagne powder snow all to yourself — what’s not to love when skiing or snowboarding in spring? The most recent winter season has seen some of the heaviest snowfalls in a decade, which has led to the rare occurrence of extended opening times for four ski resorts in Hokkaido.
If a last-minute ski holiday isn’t in the cards, well, you can always plan ahead. We’ve just released our Early Bird offers for the 2025/26 winter season, so you can nab your favourite hotels at the best rates, too.

Niseko Village Ski Resort
Open until April 13, 2025

Nestled in the middle of the Niseko United area, Niseko Village features the longest lift in the area — the Niseko Gondola. It’s a quieter option suitable for more advanced skiers and boarders, and boasts 27 courses and the most runs in Niseko. The village is also home to a range of cool food and drink options including Baby Crosta, Bianca Omakase and Omotesando Koffee.
WanderLuxe Tip: All four ski areas can be accessed by the Niseko Bus that operates between the resort, which means you can stay in a central area like Hirafu and see them all.

WanderLuxe Tip: We recommend laps on the Jumbo Quad for beginners and those who love wide runs. Where to stay? We suggest the stylish Song Saa chalet.

Furano Zone
Open until May 6, 2025

Well-loved for its authentic small town charm, Furano is attracting a lot of attention this season. Insiders love it for the “drier” snow, which makes you feel like you’re riding on air. It’s also one of the few resorts that stay open well into spring.
WanderLuxe Tip: Get easy access to the Kitanomine Zone when you stay at Fenix Furano or Fenix West. Want your very own sleek chalet just minutes away? Shiyuki is the one for you.
