On a recent trip to Phuket for a wedding, we knew we had to book a stay at SALA Phuket Resort & Spa. Why? Because we’ve had our eyes on it for awhile now, saving a check-in for the perfect opportunity.
And boy, are we glad we did.
The resort combines rare historical Sino-Portuguese architecture while enjoying a fantastic location along Mai Khao beach, one of the best around. The resort is made up of 79 stylish, spacious villas. Of those, 63 have private swimming pools. Room types vary from garden pool villas to the beachfront Presidential Pool Villa Suite. Every villa is private and peaceful, perfect for guests wanting to enjoy a vacation without any disturbance.
Upon checking in to our signature Sala Pool Villa, we were given the option of selecting our preferred pillow type, as well as the scent of our soap and body lotion. After much consideration (ahem) we liked the sound of a micro silk pillow the most, and chose the lemongrass scent among the other choice of basil, kaffir lime, cinnamon orange. The rest of our time was spent making the most of our private pool, rain shower and daybeds.
Luxe tip: Guests can set up a two-person kayak ride with an in-house specialist to guide you. We highly recommend it!
Our resident Wander Woman with a passion for languages, big cities and bronzer. When she's not listening to The Smiths a little too loudly at the office (after hours!), she can be found singing along to the soundtrack of Les Miserables with her two cats for an audience.
