Where to go for date night in Koh Samui

You’re already staying in pretty much perfection thanks to The Luxe Nomad, but in order to step up some serious romantic vibes for your date night in Koh Samui, we’ve got 5 love-inducing places that will hit the (ahem) spot. Good food is rather expensive on the island, so be prepared to splurge, and take note that alcohol isn’t served between 2pm to 5pm and after midnight on the island.

Zazen Restaurant

Book the terrace tables in advance

An institution in the Samui dining scene, Zazen is truly for the most loved-up. Magnificently lit with over 100 candles every night, it is one of the most romantic and serene beach side dining restaurants on the island. We love its beautiful entrance through the resort to the restaurant, the sumptuous but tasteful Moroccan style, and of course, the food which comes in the form of Mediterranean and Royal Thai offerings.

WanderLuxe loves: The 5-course Declination Lobster Set Menu which will leave you dreaming about this place long after you’ve left.

Get there: Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa, 177, Moo 1, Tambon Bophut 84320 Koh Samui. Tel: +66 7742 5085

The Boudoir

Step into the privacy that is The Boudoir

They don’t get rave reviews for nothing. This award-winning French restaurant located in a hidden (and cozy) spot in Maenam is all about rustic-bohemian opulence, thanks to its mélange of French and Middle-Eastern décor with swaths of red silk, delicious Provencal French cuisine – think escargots, foie gras and Cognac, and the perfect hosts in Magali and Patrice.

WanderLuxe loves: The duck confit and the creamy creme brûlée. C’est magnifique!

Get there: 14/21 Moo 1 T, Maenam, Koh Samui. Tel: +66 85 783 1031

The Jungle Club

Do you reckon you can spot Mowgli from here?

Ask anyone on the island, and you’ll routinely be recommended The Jungle Club. Where can this elusive place be, you ask? Well, while it is technically set in the jungle, it’s the hillside location that makes this spot a jaw-dropping one, boasting the best panoramic views (and cocktails) of Samui. Whether you go in the daytime or evening, head out early as the bean bags on the deck are always booked. It’s rustic, so don’t dress up (and requires a 4WD to get up the last bit of the steep incline).

WanderLuxe loves: The variety of the food – Italian, French, Thai and Mediterranean. Plus the desserts!

Get there: Chaweng Noi beach, Soi Panyadee, Koh Samui. Tel: +66 81 894 2327

Dining on The Rocks

Make sure to catch the sunset!

If you’re looking for  a spectacular dining experience and avant-garde gastronomy, look no further than Six Senses’ Dining on The Rocks in which your table for the evening is set on ten teak and bamboo terraced decks overlooking a 270-degree view of the ocean, sunset and island of Koh Phangan. Our tip? Go early enough to enjoy the light (and drinks) as once the sun sets, all you’ll be able to (barely) see are the exotic and minimalist offerings of your divine feast.

WanderLuxe loves: The views, and the freshest herbs, vegetables, and organic greens from the resort’s own gardens.

Get there: Six Senses Resort, 9/10 Moo 5, Baan Plai Laem, Bophut, Koh Samui. Tel: +66 7724 5678

Tree Tops Sky Dining & Bar

Step into a different world

Possibly the most romantic restaurant on the island (particularly for an exceptional occasion), Tree Tops Sky Dining & Bar literally takes date night dining to new heights. With only eight tables – each located in a stunning treehouse – advanced reservations are a must. The menu emphasises seafood and red meat, with highlights including the Rougie Foie Gras and Scallop, Mediterranean Lamb and Snow Fish.

WanderLuxe loves: The journey to Tree Tops includes a series of raised walkways and steps into the treetops – it’s almost like entering a different world.

Get there: 92/1 Moo 2, Anantara Lawana Koh Samui ResortChaweng, Bophut, Koh Samui. Tel: +66 77 960 333

And then back to your private pool

Alia Soraya

When she's not chasing after her toddler son, travelling the world, riding horses, killing herself with F45, or eating everything in sight, Alia is a grammar nazi extraordinaire. She also has an unhealthy obsession with Tom Hiddleston, Game of Thrones, Outlander and French cooking. Did we mention chocolate too?
