Bali After Dark: The Best Nightlife in Seminyak

You already know where to stay in Bali, what to do, and what to eat, and here’s where you need to be when the sun goes down. Kuta might be the party town but Seminyak has all the class. #1 Single Malt Bar at IZE Seminyak

You might feel a strong urge to smoke a cigar here. We say go for it

The vibe: Gatsby on vacation.
Music selection: Live DJs playing blues, soul and rock. Some days feature house music.

Whiskey drinkers will enjoy this watering hole as it claims to have the most extensive selection of whiskeys on this island. Meja downstairs is good for a light dinner before heading up to the amber-toned welcoming lounge. The place has a very 1920s feel with leather chairs and brick walls.

Address: IZE Seminyak,  Jl. Kayu Aya, Kuta Utara.

#2 Mirror Lounge and Club

Mirror opens daily around 10pm so make pre-game plans before ending the night here

The vibe: Halloween at Hogwarts.
Music selection: DJs playing deep house and hip-hop.

If the Adam’s family wanted a night out, they’d come here to drink countless pints of beer and get weird on the dance floor. The decor resembles a Gothic cathedral with stained glass windows and high ceilings but the laser lights are a stark contrast. Mirror isn’t the kind of place you can likely get a seat at — not even at the bar — so wear some comfortable shoes that adhere to the “dress to impress” dress code.

Address: Jalan Petitenget No.106, Seminyak.

#3 JENJA Bar & Club

081 (1)
One inebriated step ahead of the crowd

The vibe: Glammed-up warehouse.
Music selection: DJs playing deep house and RNB.

Opened just last year, Jenja is already one of our favourites upon discovering it during our birthday weekend in Bali.  It’s only open from Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8pm onwards. The Foyer at Jenja has six lounge areas and a VIP section — try to get in, it’s so chic. But even if you can’t, you’ll still be in company of socialites and cosmopolites.

Address: Jl. Nakula Barat 18, Seminyak.

#4 Motel Mexicola

It turns into a real fiesta on occasion

The vibe: Cinco de Mayo.
Music selection: Live latin music.

Come for the food, stay for the tequila. This is absolutely one of our favourite spots in Bali because of its welcoming ambiance and music (Mariachi bands!). Motel Mexicola is floor-to-ceiling true to its Mexican theme with melting candles around an actual shrine and painted tiles. And there’s no way you can miss the tiny Mexican flags along the street.

Address:  Jalan Kayujati 9X, Petitenget, Seminyak.

#5 Potato Head Beach Club

Mark Ronson once played here too

The vibe: Beachside music festival.
Music selection: Deep house and mostly indie electronica.

Think splendour in the beach. During the day it’s a family-friendly lunch venue with nice sun loungers but when the sun goes down, the kids should head to bed so the adults can have all the fun at the Beach Club. There are people in the pool, some sitting at the bar, some relaxing at the lawn — it’s like one big Bali house party you don’t want to miss. Hey, there’s a reason everyone recommends Potato Head right?

Address: Jl. Petitenget No. 51B, Seminyak.

#6 La Favela

La has a new spot called La Sicilia in Seminyak opening this week!

The vibe: Jungle party.
Music selection: Diversified tracks from across the globe.

There’s something so memorable about nights at the famed La Favela. It might be that it encompasses exactly what you have in mind when you envision partying in an exotic location. The decor comes from all over including South America, Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil. And you’ll be sipping on excellent house cocktails.

Address: Jalan Laksamana Oberoi 177x Seminyak.

The party doesn’t start till you check-in.
