Villa of the week: Villa Suami in Bali, a haven for families

The basics

An impressive design villa with five ensuite bedrooms and two pools. The architecture and interiors are seriously stunning – modern and luxurious, but with a personal touch.

Who it’s for

With its landscaped grounds, big open spaces and incredible design, Villa Suami is the perfect backdrop for a big occasion (wedding bells, anyone?) but those same qualities also make it perfect for a family holiday. Plenty of space for little ones to run around, two pools so no one has to share, a newly refurbished kids room and enough room that everyone can escape for a bit on their own if they need to. Plus: free meals for children under six!

Villa Suami is located in Canggu, which many call the new Seminyak. It’s a short drive from the beach, 20 minutes from the shops and restaurants of Seminyak, and a 55-minute drive from the airport.

The best bits

Every corner of this villa is beautiful, but we particularly love the little touches: the artwork, the curios and knickknacks, the custom furniture. This isn’t a cookie-cutter villa stay; this feels like staying in your most stylish friend’s Bali retreat. And obviously, the villa abounds with Instagram opportunities.

Food & drink

Make the most of the excellent in-villa chef (did we mention kids eat free?), or take a drive to the nearby Jalan Pantai Berawa for Canggu’s famous cafes (Taco Loco, Milk & Madu, One Eyed Jack).

Things to do nearby

To be honest, we’d be happy just staying in the villa all day. Private yoga, meditation and personal training sessions can be arranged – and a spa session to follow. But if you want to venture out, head over to the black sands at Batu Bolong beach, then head over to Finns Beach Club.
