Meet Villa Ayana Manis’ Vera Kretschmar

Vera Kretschmar has made her mark in various industries, from business, to beauty, to luxury real estate, but The Luxe Nomad knows her better as the woman behind the elegant Villa Ayana Manis in Seminyak, Bali.

Ever wonder what life is like for villa owners like Vera? Keep reading to find out!

What is it like to be a villa owner? Looks like everyone’s dream, but is it like that in real life?

It’s great but a lot of work to maintain all properties. There are [also] constant renovations thanks to the humidity and rain in Bali, but overall it’s great and my staff is amazing.

What inspired you when renovating Ayana Manis?

When I extended the main villa to the adjacent villa, I really wanted to keep it a black and white theme. Though [it’s] modern and sleek, I also like some Bali inspired elements and crafts. Meanwhile, I wanted the outside to feel like a courtyard which is calm and relaxed.

Aside from managing Ayana Manis, what else do you do?

My main work is with Ivory Capital, a boutique investment firm in Singapore. I do venture capital investments and real estate. Aside from that, I also own a beauty clinic in Bali called Anaya Aesthetics.

Real estate investments are so different from beauty—what inspired you to launch Anaya Aesthetics?

I started it mainly because I love anything beauty and found there wasn’t anything high end in Bali.

What makes Anaya Aesthetics one of a kind?

Anaya Aesthetics aims to be the most luxurious international clinic in Bali, with the best treatments and services. Our services range from botox, fillers, Profhilo, Rejuran, Threadlift, HIFU, slimming and toning and more.

Let’s talk about Bali faves: what are your Top 5 restaurants/cafés?

Personally, I love Mauri, Boy and Cow (the first meat boutique in Bali!), Bali Buddha for vegan, Alila Beach Bar for sunsets, and da Maria for pasta.

Do you have a favourite bar or beach club?

I still like Kudeta even if it’s probably not the cool spot anymore.

What is shopping like in Bali – are there any designers you recommend?

The only shopping I do in Bali are things for the house. I like Mercredi for linens and pillows and Kim Soo for deco.

Any other must-do tips for Bali?

Bali National Golf Course is a must see if you play, and Smash Factory for indoor golf. There’s also the Hyatt Regency in Sanur, my fav hotel which serves great weekend brunches as well. And of course Anaya Aesthetics for anything beauty!
