Villa of the Week: Villa Sayang d’amour in Seminyak, Bali

A touch of Morocco in the heart of Seminyak, Villa Sayang d’Amour sets the scene for family holidays, grand celebrations and even a wedding to remember.

Sayang means sweetheart in Indonesian; d’amour means love in French. At Villa Sayang d’Amour, the name feels particularly apt. This Moroccan-inspired villa in Seminyak has played host to two different kinds of love stories: family holidays with six bedrooms and a whole lot of fun, as well as intimate garden weddings.

The villa is thoughtfully laid out for both. Bedrooms are spread across separate pavilions, so a late night in one needn’t disturb an early night in another. And the gardens are generous enough to accommodate a wedding marquee without sacrificing the sun loungers.

Here’s the lowdown on Villa Sayang d’amour, where everything is made with a little extra love.

The Location: A Quiet Lane, Five Minutes From The Buzz

Seminyak is Bali’s dress-up district, and Villa Sayang d’Amour puts you within easy reach of the neighborhood’s highlights — close enough to walk to dinner, drinks and the beach, yet with room to retreat when the night is done.

Petitenget and Seminyak beaches (900m) are a short stroll away for sunset drinks, home to spots like the ever-popular Potato Head Beach Club (800m). Dinner is equally easy to arrange. There’s Mauri (270m) for Italian, Merah Putih (300m) for Indonesian cuisine beneath soaring arches, and Rayjin Teppanyaki (550m) for wagyu straight off the hotplate. Jalan Kayu Aya, Seminyak’s Eat Street, is just a five-minute ride away.

Come morning, 32Do Bali (750m) takes care of coffee and desserts delicious enough to win over the sweet-averse. Overdid it the night before? Bodyworks Spa (600m) is on hand for a little recovery.

The Design: Six Bedrooms, All Romantic in Their Own Way

The villa’s design is primarily inspired by Morocco, from the patterned tiles underfoot to the arches framing its doorways. Shuttered windows soften the Bali sunlight, while hurricane lamps, chandeliers and carefully collected antiques lend the rooms the character of a home furnished over time. In the living room, a run of French doors opens onto the pool terrace, letting natural light and the sea breeze in.

The villa is part of Honeycombers’ round-up of Seminyak’s best villas, where it was described as “helplessly romantic”. The six bedrooms certainly live up to that. Named Sensation, French Kiss, Love, Romance, Elegance and Forever, each has its own character, with a canopy bed and private bathtub as common threads.

Sensation and French Kiss occupy separate garden pavilions across the water, providing an extra measure of privacy. Both have four-poster king beds, freestanding baths and rain showers, with a clawfoot tub made for two adding to the romantic mood.

Closer to the heart of the house, Love and Romance flank the living area, each with a king bed and doors opening directly onto the terrace. Upstairs, Elegance and Forever are twin bedrooms with private balconies overlooking the pool — a great arrangement for families travelling with older children.

The villa’s six bedrooms sleep 12 guests comfortably, with two additional beds available on request to bring the total to 14. The names may be unapologetically romantic, but the layout is pleasingly practical.

The Amenities: One Pool for Laps, One for Splashing Around

The 17m pool comes with a waterfall feature and a hot tub, and a walled-off kids’ pool alongside, which keeps the deep end firmly adults-only. Younger guests get their own wooden playhouse and a dining table cut to size, so mealtimes can run in parallel.

A Finnish sauna, a new addition in 2026, sits by the water for anyone who enjoys the steam-then-cold-plunge school of relaxation. Up top, the rooftop gazebo does high tea by day and sundowners by night, with a wonderful view of Seminyak below. Feeling indulgent? An in-villa spa therapist can come to the garden, or your own room, which comfortably beats a drive into town.

The Service: A Private Chef and a Venue for the Vows

Meals are taken care of by a private chef, who prepares Indonesian and Western dishes from breakfast through dinner. Simply share your preferences a day ahead, whether it’s burgers from the poolside grill for the children or a more elaborate dinner for the adults, and the kitchen will source the ingredients. You can even send a shopping list before you arrive, so the fridge is stocked by the time you land.

A villa manager, housekeeping team, and 24-hour security handle everything else. A spa therapist comes to the villa on request at extra charge, which turns a massage into a walk across the garden rather than a drive into town. A car and driver can be arranged at a daily eight-hour rate, and in Seminyak that is the sensible way to travel, when the parking is tight; ride-hailing apps cover the short trips.

Event Ready: Great for Weddings and Special Occasions for up to 100 Guests

Sayang d’amour takes events for up to 100 guests standing or 50 seated, spread across the pool terrace, the lawns and the rooftop garden. The gazebo holds 50 for a sundowner reception.
