Follow our Head of Marketing, Zehan Marissa as she experiences three days in paradise at Villa Celadon.
Located along the east coast of Thailand is a beautiful and peaceful island that is the perfect destination to escape all of your worries. In this article, I will be detailing my experience on the island of Koh Samui because a place like this cannot go unnoticed!
Thursday
After what felt like forever, I arrived at Villa Celadon just before midnight on the 17th of November from Sydney via Singapore. Twelve hours of travelling left me feeling extremely fatigued and all I could think about was getting to my home for the next couple of days. As soon as I stepped inside Villa Celadon, Khun Renu, the villa manager, and Khun Bee, the villa chef, greeted with so much warmth, kindness, genuine smiles, and helping hands. They handed me a refreshing coconut drink before I headed to my room.
As I opened the door to the bedroom, a sigh of relief washed over me when I had my first peek. My eyes immediately landed on the king-sized bed that was just as comfortable as it appeared. As I looked around, the room ticked every box on my personal checklist – spacious, clean, with multiple charging stations, a full walk-in wardrobe, and to top it off, a gorgeous bathtub. I took a quick shower to dust off my weary bones and spent the rest of the night laying on a bed that felt as soft as a cloud. Excitement started to linger at the back of my mind for what was in store for me the next day.
Friday
When the sun came up, I appreciated every nook and cranny of this beautifully designed villa. Thoughtful details and great use of space were exactly the goals achieved by UCL’s prestigious Bartlett school of Architecture graduate, Gary Fell, from the renowned and awarded company, GFAB Architects. I was admiring his work around the 4 bedrooms, the kid’s bedroom, and the open living area with a sunken shala. After a quick villa walkthrough, I enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast spread that consisted of yogurt, fruits plus granola, croissant with butter and marmalade, coffee, and fruit juice. Talk about a great start to my morning!
My first full day consisted of visiting the company’s other properties, meetings, and a visit to the Intercontinental Air Bar to catch sunset with my colleagues (which is only half an hour away by car!). The villa’s great location made it very tempting for me to stay out longer and explore nearby places such as Bang Por Beach which also houses a number of delicious restaurants and cafes to indulge in (Cherish Samui, Hug Samui, Lay Lagom Cafe’Bar, to name a few). Villa Celadon is ideally located in the north corner of the island, close to the Four Seasons, Fisherman’s Village and some beautiful waterfalls. Whether you’re a nature lover or a social butterfly, you’d never run out of places to explore around you.
I returned to the villa at around 7 pm to the most amazing outdoor massage set up by the pool by the lovely in-villa masseuse, Khun Thip. Villa Celadon’s villa manager, Khun Renu had arranged this specifically as I had asked her for some spa recommendations. Thankfully, you could get one in the villa! She gave me the spa menu via WhatsApp whilst I was on my day out and before I knew it, my dinner and massage had been seamlessly arranged.
Fun fact about my masseuse, Khun Thip used to work at the Six Senses Koh Samui prior to the pandemic and specializes in holistic wellness – from Thai massage, herbal compress massage, lymphatic drainage, Chi Nei Tsang massage, kundalini massage, scalp and foot massage, and reiki healing – you name it, she can do it! I ended the day feeling completely relaxed, and I had a quick dinner before turning in for the night.
Saturday
Another beautiful morning greeted me – this time with cerulean ocean views and clear blue skies. I felt a mix of contentment and melancholy when I realized it was my last day in this tropical paradise. I decided to slow things down and practice an hour of yoga before taking a final dip in the L-shaped pool while listening to my music. As I ate my last hearty breakfast, I couldn’t help but take a minute to picture how perfect this place would be for my whole family. I could imagine my son playing with his cousins in the bunk bedroom (gorgeously decorated!), I could almost feel the warmth of the setting sun as I sip on a glass of champagne with my husband, and I could see the rest of my family lounging around the living room, wrapped in laughter and conversation. This place was surely designed to give guests a space to live in the moment and enjoy the presence of their loved ones that surround them.
There’s no question about it – Villa Celadon is the veritable jewel in the crown of the The Luxe Nomad villas in Koh Samui. Whilst my experience here was short and sweet, the staff did not fail to make me feel welcome and special. This is an exceptional place, if you ever get a chance to experience it, which I truly hope you do. I feel extremely grateful for the opportunity to stay and experience all that Villa Celadon has to offer. And it won’t be long before I am back again (with family this time)!
