So the next stop on our adventure in Maldives is the luxurious Six Senses Laamu. Kane and I arrived at the resort after a plane and a short boat ride. The first thing we noticed was the earthy and open-air design of the resort, and how most of it sits directly on top of the water! It really made us appreciate the natural beauty of our surroundings. One thing I loved was their barefoot policy, which made us feel right at home with nature.

Shortly after arriving, we received personalised bikes (with my initials P.M. monogrammed on the wooden plates on them) which we rode down the jetty towards our bungalow.

Honestly, the room we stayed in was unlike any other place I have been before. The bungalow was largely open-view, which means we got to wake up to the incredible ocean view every morning. And, since the room is directly over-water, you can dip into the water straight from your balcony for a snorkel or swim. On top of that, the bungalow had spots where you could see the ocean floor underneath your feet. I particularly loved the glass-bottom bathtubs which provided the perfect point of relaxation as you watch the marine life below.

A major aspect that really made our stay was the incredible food. Not only was it delicious, but it was fresh, healthy and wholesome. The dishes served up in their six restaurants are all crafted with local produce grown straight from their on-site organic garden. The abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables meant that I was able to eat healthy and clean, which is often so difficult to do while travelling.

But don’t worry, I definitely got to indulge. They have their own chocolate room where we tried their handcrafted artisanal desserts and an ice cream parlour which serves over 40 different flavours — so delicious!

Our stay at the Six Senses Laamu was so exquisite! Their passion for sustainability, wellbeing and the environment really shows through the experience they provide. I can’t think of a better way to escape to tropical paradise.
