Villa of the day: Akatsuki Samui

Who it’s best for

Jet-setting travellers with very inspired Instagram accounts. This villa has all the right light and angles! Akatsuki Samui is also one of the most popular wedding venues on the island, thanks to the spectacular ocean views and large villas for groups.

Location

The villa is located in the serene Lipa Noi, a 30.5km drive from the airport. One way airport transfers are complimentary.

The basics

Beachfront and brimming with a blend of Thai-meets-Japanese design, Akatsuki Samui is the work of Riccardo Tossani, a world-renowned architect. There are 1- to 5-bedroom villas for up to 12 guests.

The best bits

A beautiful 3-tier cascading pool faces views of the Five Islands and glittering ocean beyond. Days are best spent with nothing but relaxation and good company in mind, sipping cocktails at the dining pavilion, or having a massage at the poolside sala.

Food & drink

Akatsuki Samui has an in-house chef who can whip guests up an alfresco BBQ on the ocean-facing terrace, or even pack a picnic basket to enjoy on the beach. Breakfast is complimentary with a choice of American, Continental or Asian served at your villa.

Things to do nearby

Lipa Noi is a little further from the action, making this area perfect for travellers looking forward to soaking up some Vitamin D at a number of beaches around. Should you chose to venture out of your villa, Kamalaya and Lamai beach are close by. There’s not much else to get busy with, but the Dusit Dhewa – Samui Cultural Center and Fine Art of South East Asia will give you an opportunity to understand more about Thailand.

Book it here from USD 2,166++ a night.
