Travel Style: What it Takes to be Ruffa Gutierrez

These days, you can’t go far without hearing about Ruffa Gutierrez. From the latest drama on her E! reality show It Takes Guts to be a Gutierrez to her love life, and recently, her health scare, it’s been a roller-coaster of a year for the Filipino beauty queen. And when the going gets tough, the tough gets going… to Hong Kong!

J Plus Hotel by YOO: I loved it. Excellent location with modern, spacious rooms! I had lots of extra space for my luggage.

Vacation wardrobe: Fun, carefree, easy to wear although if I’m in the mood, I bring couture by Filipino designers. It depends on where I’m going.

The best luxury trips: Musha Cay in The Exumas, Gstaad in Switzerland, St. Barths, and The South of France.

Good advice: Step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to do things you’ve never done before. You only live once so embrace the experience and charge the rest to memories you will always cherish.

Must do in Hong Kong:

  1. If you don’t have a yacht, then hire a traditional Chinese boat called a junk and explore the Hong Kong harbor with friends. Load a picnic basket, some rosé with a good playlist and you’re all set!
  2. Check out the fantastic views of the city from the rooftop bars. I prefer Sevva and Wooloomooloo. Or go to Hong Kong’s famous look out, Victoria Peak.
  3. Have Peking duck at Mott 32!

In-flight entertainment: I purchase lots of fashion/entertainment/travel/news magazines prior to my flight and that’s where I catch up on the latest trends and what’s happening around the world. Watch movies!

Worth travelling for: A bestie’s wedding! I just went to a glamorous Lake Como wedding took this opportunity to explore different parts of Italy. I’m the type that keeps going back to my favorite places. It’s high time I become a bit more adventurous.
