New on The Luxe Nomad: Villa Hakuna Matata

The basics

Villa Hakuna Matata in Canggu, Bali, because it means no worries, is the kind of place that’ll make you forget that there was a world before you visited or a time beyond it.

The six-bedroom en-suite villa for up to twelve adults and two children is full of luxe amenities and eye-catching wonders. Here, a sixty-metre swimming pool with three different depths draws the eye and wherever you are greenery seemingly cascades from every exterior wall. Local artefacts and artworks fill the array of rooms, each with large windows to catch the rays of the setting sun.

This place is the essence of the sophisticated and cool international nomad.

Overlooking 10 hectares of lush greenery and rice paddies, Villa Hakuna Matata is located in Canggu, close to everything but far enough that all you’ll hear is yourself and the wind.

It’s a short drive from the beach, 20 minutes from the shops and restaurants of Seminyak, and a 55-minute drive from the airport.

Things to do nearby

Truth is, it’s hard to see the point of leaving Hakuna Matata. Private yoga, meditation, spa sessions and personal training sessions can all be arranged. If you wanted to venture out though, we’re all about heading over to the black sands at Batu Bolong beach or spending a day Finns Beach Club.

Food & Drink

We like the way “private chef” just rolls off the tongue, don’t you? It makes everything seem all the more special. Take advantage of the excellent service (DEFINITELY enjoy an in-pool floating breakfast) or maybe find your way to nearby Jalan Pantai Berawa to experience some of Canggu’s famous cafes like Milk & Madu. Or you could try the restaurant just next door.

The best bits

Ok. There are more than a few things about Villa Hakuna Matata that have us dreaming of freedom and glory.

Take, for example, this stunning creation (pictured above). That window seat is where we want to spend all of our indoor time, just reading and ignoring the world.

The other bedrooms are equally well-styled with black iron, wood and glass working together in harmony to create the ultimate cool-kid vibe.

Then, we present you with this architectural feat. Is there any more interesting way of overlooking your kingdom than from this terrace?

What we might love the most is the sunken poolside lounge, which is surrounded by tempered glass and allows a glimpse of the water (and swimmers).
