International Women’s Day: Aom Promchuay, Guest Experience Assistant

Aom is one of those people you likely will have talked to quite a bit by the time you land in Thailand if you’ve booked your stay through Luxury Villas & Homes and The Luxe Nomad. She’s a guest experience assistant and works hard to make sure you’re taken care of long before you arrive. Here, she tells about the most interesting guest request she’s ever received and about the woman she most admires.

Where are you from and/or where are you currently located?

I’m originally from Nakhon Sri Thammarat, which is in southern Thailand. I lived in Bangkok for over 15 years, but have been in Koh Samui for the past 1.5 years.

What is your professional background?

I studied Mass Communication.

What is your current role?

I’m in guest services, so I make arrangements for our guests – everything from their daily activities to ensuring guests have all they need prior to their arrival.

What do you love or find challenging about your role?

Being able to respond promptly is probably the hardest thing about my job. However, I love being able to arrange everything for special days and events, especially when I get to hear how much they enjoyed it all.

Being in guest services, you must get a lot of interesting requests. Can you tell us a few?

I once had a guest ask for a bodyguard to protect them 24 hours a day!

You must be speaking with clients all the time! How do you balance work and play?

I travel as much as I can during my free time so that I can always be fresh for our guests.

What advice would you give to someone looking to work in a role similar to yours?

You need to be able to find a way to balance work and play! Also, always remember that tomorrow is another day and you never know what will come!

Are there any particular women who inspire you and why?

One of my friends! She has a full-time job and is working hard to be a great mom at the same time. She is always helping me find a positive outlook.

What is your favourite travel destination?

London, so far!

What are three things you can’t travel without?

Smartphone and charger, credit card, hair dryer 🙂
